Product: HP Printer Envy 5541

I’m on the HP ink programme and using the legitimate HP cartridges.  The current cartridges have been in a few weeks but just started to receive an error message on the printer that the black cartridge is incorrectly installed and received an instruction to reinstall.  I have done this many times but it makes no difference.  I can’t run any of the utilities to clean the cartridge head because the error message prevents any further use of the printer.  The alternative action provided to me is to replace the cartridge, but I don’t have one and I can’t get one locally.  A further note on the HP app says that no further cartridges will be issued until I resolve the problem.  I can’t find a way to contact a human at HP - I’ve tried the virtual assistant but it is completely useless and very frustrating.  Can anyone please suggest a way out of this impass?  The printer is long out of warranty so I’m wondering if it is time to buy a new printer?  Suggestions gratefully received.
