Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A paper jam in the Samsung Xpress SL-C480FW Color Laser Multifunction Printer can be frustrating, especially if the paper is stuck in a hard-to-reach area like the scan unit or exit.

Here are steps you can follow to clear the jam safely:

1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Power Off: Turn off the printer to avoid any electrical issues or injuries.
  • Unplug: Disconnect the printer from the power source to ensure your safety while handling internal components.

2. Remove Paper from the Output Tray

  • Check the output tray first to see if any part of the paper is sticking out. Gently pull it out if possible.

3. Open the Scan Unit

  • Lift the Scan Unit: Open the scanner unit carefully by lifting it from the bottom edge. This will allow you to see inside the printer.
  • Check for Paper: Look inside the printer for any visible paper. If you see paper, gently pull it out towards you. Be sure to pull the paper straight out to avoid tearing it.

4. Remove the Paper Tray

  • Pull Out the Paper Tray: Slide out the paper tray to see if any paper is jammed underneath or in the feed area.
  • Check Inside: Look inside the paper tray area for any pieces of paper. Gently remove any paper you find.

5. Open the Rear Cover

  • Open Rear Cover: Check the back of the printer for a rear cover or access panel. Open this to access more areas where paper might be stuck.
  • Remove Paper: Look for any jammed paper in this area and remove it carefully.

6. Check the Fuser Area

  • Open the Fuser Access Panel: Some printers have a separate access panel for the fuser, which is often located at the rear or inside the printer. Open this if accessible.
  • Remove Jammed Paper: If you see paper in the fuser area, remove it carefully. Be cautious as the fuser can be hot.

7. Check Inside the Printer for Small Pieces of Paper

  • Inspect for Torn Pieces: Ensure there are no small pieces of paper left inside the printer, as even small fragments can cause further jams.

8. Close All Covers and Reassemble

  • Close the Scan Unit: Once you have removed all the jammed paper, close the scanner unit securely.
  • Reinsert the Paper Tray: Slide the paper tray back into place.
  • Close the Rear Cover: Ensure the rear cover is closed properly.

9. Power On the Printer

  • Plug Back In: Plug the printer back into the power source.
  • Turn On: Turn on the printer and let it initialize.

10. Test the Printer

  • Run a Test Print: Once the printer is on, try printing a test page to ensure that everything is functioning properly and there are no remaining jams.

  • Avoid Forcing Paper: If the paper doesn’t come out easily, do not force it. This could damage the printer's internal components.
  • Consult the Manual: Refer to the printer's user manual for specific instructions on clearing jams for your model.
