When I first set up my HP OfficeJet 6950, I could click Scan on the printer and it would scan to my computer. Now, after a few OS upgrades and the replacement of HP Utility with HP Smart, Scan to Computer is disabled in HP Smart.
The message says "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer." It was me who set up the printer and it used to work. I have checked all the online solutions but they all only refer to HP Utility. EasyStart always recommends HP Smart. I have run Restore to Factory Defaults from the printer Setup menu and reinstalled HP Smart but neither has fixed my issues.
Does HP Smart (Mac) no longer support Scan to Computer or is this a problem which can be fixed?
A possibly connected problem is that when I start HP Smart after a few days of inactivity, it tells me the printer is offline even though I can see that the printer is on the WiFi. Diagnose & Fix cannot resolve this. The only solution is to restart the printer.
Lastly, every time I login to HP Support through HP Smart, I am told I need to upgrade Firmware and upgrade EasyStart. When I try to install the Firmware, it always says there is no firmware in the package for my printer. When I try to reinstall EasyStart, it takes me to the Apple App Store where I already have the most up to date app installed. After doing this, HP Support still tells me I need to upgrade Firmware and EasyStart.
Is this all part of the same issue? I hope there is a solution.
Thanks, Richard
