Scanjet 7650
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Scanjet 7650 connected to a Samsung i5 based laptop, running Win 7 64 bit.  It has suddenly started the following behaviour:

If using the automatic feeder, it takes the first page in as expected, but then stops scanning almost immediately.  I can see the top of the document in the scanning window.

If I use it as a flatbed scanner, the scanning 'head' and light move to approximately one inch down the document and then stop.

In either case, no document is produced on the computer (using Windows Fax and Scan) and I can only get out of the situation by powering off the scanner.

However, annoyingly, the scanner ocassionally works properly and I can quite happily scan a 25 page document.

Has anyone had a similar experience and did you manage to solve it?

Thank you and Best Wishes
