If anyone else has this frustrating problem - no scanner found - in Silhouette Studio 64 bit versions, it is NOT a fault with the printer/scanner or computer. My understanding is that there are no 64 bit scanner drivers in the 64 bit versions of Silhouette Studio so in order to scan, you need to downgrade to a 32 bit version of Silhouette Studio. I found this out by joining a FaceBook group since I got no help at all at Silhouette Studio help desk. They had no clue even though this has been a problem for months and months.
