I have a home wireless LAN, with internet service, by Spectrum, which bought out Brighthouse. The wireless router is by Arris, and the model is TC1682.
We have an older HP 1320n Laserjet printer my wife uses for larger print jobs. Under Brighthouse's equipment, we could both access this printer, but under Spectrum's gear, we can't see it.
I have run an ethernet cable from the Laserjet to tghe Arris modem, and cycled the modem, but we still can't see the Laserjet. I have tried installing the latest and greatest drivers from hp.com/suport to no avail. Yes, I tried turning off the firewalls first. No help.
I can open the router with Internet Explorer. Oh. Hey! Success!
-Go to the section of the router OS that recognizes LAN clients.
-If such exists, "Add Client". Use the MAC address. There is a reset button on the interface card on the printer. Press it, a test page with the MAC address will print. The MAC address is called the hardware address.
-Update the router. This will reboot the router.
-Go back to the LAN Client page and write down your new IP address for your printer.
-Go to http://www.hp.com/support, and enter your printer name, e.g. hp 1320, and go from there.
-Download the appropriate driver program, and follow the prompts. When it asks for you printer address, enter your new IP address.
Go into the properties, and configure as pleases you.
Yeeehawww!
