HP Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This was my problem:

My HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 will not print over wireless network from my ASUS VivoBook since I bought a new router, TP-Link AC-2300. I have installed and re-installed all the latest firmware and printer support items from HP (HP Smart, etc.). These tools are able to configure the printer and give me the printer status of "Ready", but as soon as I pick a document to print, I get a notification that "the printer is in an error state", or "printer cannot print <document name>". It won't even print an HP Test Page. But it WILL print an internal Print Quality Diagnostic Page. Also, I can print just fine on the same network from my wife's Dell laptop.

The problem went away after I read some of the posts on the HP topic of "Windows 10 Upgrade causing print issues"

I thought I had all the needed Windows 10 Updates because I like to keep current. However, I finally installed an optional driver update:

Hewlett-Packard - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Print - HP Officejet Pro 6830

This did the trick, I can print now.
