HP Scanjet G4050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there folks. When I try to scan images using my G4050 flatbed scanner, it gets stuck at "Preparing to Scan." Here's where it gets stuck when I start the scan from the HP Scanning utility on my desktop:

Pressing the scan image quick button on the front of the scanner similarly gets stuck. Here's what it looks like when it gets stuck this way:

Now, when trying to scan as a document and save as a PDF, it similarly gets stuck if I start from the desktop application, but I was able to successfully scan a document using the PDF quick button on the front of my scanner. I could theoretically scan all of my images as PDFs and convert them, but this would be a time consuming process as I am working on archiving a large number of images.

I've tried powercycling and reinstalling the full drivers with no success. I am connected via USB to my computer. Any ideas as to a solution or workaround?
