We bought this T520 new a year ago and after using the starter ink cartridges, we tried installing new generic replacement ink cartridges but the printer would recognize that they were non-HP and refuse to print. We ordered from 4 different suppliers all claiming to be using the latest chip on their cartridges but still none have worked.
I read online that there is an option to disable the cartridge protection but unfortunately, that option does not show up in the Settings through the web browser or directly on the printer. Through the browser, under Preferences, I have Anonymous Usage Information Storage, Date & Time and International. HP Cartridge Protection does not appear.
As for Anonymous Usage Information Storage, I have disabled it. Not sure if that is the equivalent of the HP Cartridge Protection. While I am in Canada, I selected USA as the region hoping to gain some features but doesn't appear that's the case. I'm wondering if a specific firmware would help?
