LaserJet P2055d
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a LaserJet P2055d on a Windows 10 desktop. I was sharing it over my home network with a Windows 10 notebook. It stopped printing from the notebook and I tried to uninstall the printer with plans to reinstall to see if that would fix it. I have not been able to reinstall the printer to this particular notebook--but I have tested by sharing the same printer with other notebooks with no problem.

When I try to add it conventionally, I first get a message of no driver found. I downloaded the PCL6 universal driver from the HP website (which is present if I look for this printer model) and try to copy files from there. Then I get an error that Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. When I added the printer to other computers, it just added--no need to search for a driver.

I have also tried to add it manually based upon instructions I've found on various searches. Here's an example of what I have tried based upon another answer in this forum--slightly changed based on differences in the options in Windows 10 as opposed to 7, which this answer was for: "On the Windows 7 computer go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a new port, Local port, Next, \\xpcomputername\lj3015 (where you put in the actual share name of the computer and printer), OK, Windows Update (and wait for the list to repopulate), HP Laserjet 3015 PCL5,  Next, Next."

When I try doing it manually like this the process just hangs. It won't even allow me to cancel--I wind up rebooting to get out of this.

I have gone through a bunch of suggestions I found on line. I fear that along the way I made so many changes that I messed things up even further. I have also tried system restore, but it still does not print on the oldest version I can restore to. I wonder if there are any other fixes, or perhaps a way to reset to how things were initially on windows setup without having to reinstall windows and everything else.
