HP Recommended
Officejet Pro 9014
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My old 8615 eventually packed up and yesterday I took delivery of a new Officejet Pro 9014.

I cannot get it to scan properly, despite well over an hour on the phone with HP Support.

I am using a Mac with Catalina 10.15.7

HP Smart does not work. Firstly, it will insist on defaulting to "document" if the ADF is used and to photo if the plate is used. This cannot be amended.

So if I scan off the glass, I cannot get a searchable PDF

And worse, if I scan, about half the time, I get an error message "unknown error occurred"

HP Easy Scan works but only at 200 dpi and I cannot find how to adjust the resolution.

I tried the app  "image capture" as a work around but it is a very clumsy tool

And previously on the 8615, I could scan from the control panel to the computer but that simply does not work - the control panel just displays a notice to use HP Smart

Any help will be gratefully received.
