Have found HP Smart to be very helpful however because of dynamic IP addressing (DHCP) Office jet regularly goes offline and has to be restarted so I have reassigned printer to a static address. I had ATT reserve addresses from 1.168.226 to 254 and hold them out of the DHCP range so they can be configured manually.
Printer has been reassigned to .226 and seems to be working fine for Windows, and various apps but HP Smart setup cannot see that IP Address. Feels like it needs to know the user and password to choose and access the network but I don't seem to get an opportunity to specify those access permissions. I am using an EERO mesh router that is in bridge mode so all traffic is being passed between the ATT modem/router and the EERO mesh router without filtering.
