Please bear with me: Printing with a networked printer is entirely new to me. I posted about this a while back, but put the project aside, because the world sorta fell apart and we've all had larger concerns.
The M604 is connected to the wireless router for my home network. It has not been powered up while connected to the network.
We have windows 7 and 10 computers I would like to be able to use with this printer. They access the router via Ethernet and WiFi. I don't think we will be printing from phones or tablets, but you never know. My kid does use an iPad occasionally.
If possible, I do not want to install a bunch of monitoring and productivity software, as well. I just want the printer to work. I do not have the software disc, but I have downloaded the following driver sets:
HP_LaserJet_Enterprise_M604-full-solution-18141
HP_LaserJet_Enterprise_M604-basic-solution-18141
HP_LaserJet_M604_PCL6_Print_Driver_no_Installer_18141
Repairtrooper recommended using "HP Universal Print Driver V6.9." I have a tab open featuring two versions of 6.9.0.24630: 64-bit PCL6.5 and PostScript. If these are the right drivers, I assume I want the PCL6.5 set?
Once I have the correct driver, am I to install the driver on every PC that will be using the printer? Is it necessary to have the printer on or off before and during driver installation? Will the printer appear along side other printers in our Control Panels, or does it operate in some manner I'm just not familiar with?
Thank you!
