Though I am currently using a Dell Inspiron 660 Desktop with Win 7 64 Bit OS, this error appears on any device/OS. It's another example of HP installing malware on it's devices to force buyers to waste expensive ink cartridges they have already purchased and buy new ones. HP could have easily assigned a different number to the cartridge as they've done for other printers, but they didn't banking on consumers who have leftover 61 cartridges buying a new printer that uses the same cartridges. While HP spent the last decade and a half trying different ways to stop people from refilling empties or using 3rd party ink, companies like Epson were developing printers that come with huge ink tanks that last a long, long time and can be easily and cheaply refilled without syringes and ink messes. Has anybody had any success using the service menu to disable this malware?
