HP Recommended
mfp 170 series

i recently bought a mfp78nw laser printer and all was well until i went to change some settings on the hp embedded web server, it asks for an id (admin) and a password, i tried everything i could think of for a default password, nothing worked, i looked in the instruction manual which has the wrong information in it that saying it will ask for a password to be set on initial setup which it doesnt, i then looked on all the hp community posts of people having the same problem and all the completely wrong and useless replies from hp so called support, so i tried there once again useless virtual assistant, in the end i am posting this as i finally found out the correct information which they should really be putting in there instruction manuals and on there support wesite, the default ID: admin and the default password is actually the same as the wps pin which can be found by printing out a network diagnostics page using the printer controlls, why it wasnt set as something that is normally a default or why it hasnt been put in the manual or on the support site i dont know but this applies to the mfp178nw and probably others from the same series

so

embedded web server ews default password is the printers wpa pin
