HP LaserJet 4240n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

screenshot.1.JPGAfter connecting a USB 2.0 cable to a USB 2.0 port on the front panel of our HP Z220 workstation,

in "Devices and Printers" we see the message:  "Status: Driver is unavailable"

Contrary to that error message, "Properties" report that the device is working properly

and "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device."

When we plug the same USB 2.0 cable into a USB 3.0 port on the front panel,

we see the same result:  "Status: Drive is unavailable"

Windows 10 must be detecting this printer, because the printer icon

is greyed out when I power OFF the LaserJet 4240n.

This LaserJet 4240n had been working fine when connected to a Windows XP Pro PC

with an older parallel printer cable.  We would like to connect this LaserJet 4240n

to our HP Z220 workstation running Windows 10 64-bit.

We have also attempted to install drivers manually, by downloading several

driver files from www.hp.com but they do not configure this 4240n correctly.

Here's a screenshot of "Devices and Printers" on our Z220 workstation.

At bottom, see "Status:" .
