I bought a HP Color LaserJet M254dw printer 15 days ago for personal use. It is connected to my local network via RJ45, and my network is equipped at the input with a Synology RT2600AC router which acts as a DHCP server.
As already mentioned two years ago HERE, the problem of the printer's endless restart with service error 79 is still topical despite the printer firmware update (V 20190807 to date).
The only way to work around the problem was to set a fixed IP address in the printer's network configuration by disabling DHCP.
The firmware does not seem capable of managing a DHCP server assigning a fixed IP to the printer, and HP development services do not seem to be concerned by this problem since it has been known for two years now and it is always not corrected.
So, for all those like me who have encountered the service error problem 79 with a systematic restart of their printer, do not rely on what is recommended by HP support, it does not come from a device sending a corrupted impression, but indeed the printer's inability to retrieve an IP address from the DHCP server on your network.
To correct the problem, simply configure a fixed IP address in the menu of your printer and disable its DHCP configuration.
As for HP, it is high time to correct the problem in order to avoid customers like me spending more than a week to find the origin, especially since the solution is not within the reach of anyone.
