HP LaserJet 3052/3055 Printer Firmware Update Utility

Runs fine and shows progress bar and completes, yet printer immediately shows "fatal error 9! contact HP support" and luckily clears when restart printer. Tried twice then RTM'd --

 

From reading the firmware note seems utility must run via USB not network driver which is what I installed (win 7/64) so must I now install USB driver too or was it included in the same install? Any info helpful thanks.

 

Current firmware datecode 20070331F so surely older than the 2012 am trying to do. To that end, is it needed for my platform?
