LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dne
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have a LaserJet Pro 402-M403n.

It was connected as ethernet and operated fi9ne.

I  FOOLISHLY updated to the new softwar and it ceased working..

removed the printer . after endless attempts to activate it, reset to defaults.

have now retried from scratch.. and thought the USB install might work

Repeated attempts (over 20) to install it on two separate computers have  all ended in failure.  The "install" phase hangs at 99% then announces a terminal error and closes down. I'm using the HP installer on the disc that came with the printer.   The OS is Win 8.1 (64), Tried on both usb2 and usb 3 ports.

Ridiculous time wasted removing and reinstalling.. The software designers for this product should be immediatly fired.

this is my last attempt and if it fails the printer goes into the garbage and I'll never buy another HP rroduct again.

Can someone please hep with a step by step proceedure??

thanks
