HP Recommended

I am new to a pavilion g6 and have just got around to try and play cd, this might be a silly ? but when I open my tray to put in the cd there is a black piece in the middle which I thought the cd fitted over but it is not completely round it is shaped, does the cd just fit on top I am worried if does not go onto the centre piece and I shut the tray the cd might get stuck. Any one help a novice.
