HP Recommended

Hi, I have been informed by Microsoft after they remotely accessed my Notebook, that I need to reinstall Windows 7 but I cannot read all of my Product Key code on my sticker (on the base of the Notebook), I am missing 4 random number/letters, which has worn away and is very frustrating. Windows 7 was preinstalled prior to purchase.

 

My question is, does HP keep a record of this?  I cannot afford to buy it again and hope that someone can advise please?

 

Would a Factory Reset bypass the need for the Key? Sorry, I am not very computer literate....
