Product: HP Envy 2015 laptop
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently tried a set of instructions via a similar issue (hp expert DavidPK) with windows 8.1 after experiencing a similar problem myself... Beat software missing after installed windows 8.1 29-10-2013

 

Issue no sound, red X next to speaker icon, tried update right clicking sound/software no good, then removed altogether to re-install drivers

 

Steps taken as per above above advice DavidPK

 

Powered down computer held shift key 

then disconnected power

then removed battery

held down start button 30 seconds

restarted tapping escape for start up menu

pressed f10 to enter bios menu

pressed f5 to load defaults

selected yes, hit enter

pressed f10 to save setting and again selected yes hit enter

Windows fully downloaded

 

Went to download folder for IDT installer as per instruction, could not identify this file (downloaded idt high def 64b driver prior to) 

 

Hit this roadblock?

 

This may not be the solution would you mind please to advising am l on the right track?
