HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl001na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been using 2 Samsung low res monitors with my Spectre for almost 4 weeks. Recently, my laptop slowed down considerable, but only when the monitors were connected. I checked Task Master and found that Windows Explorer was using a minimum of 40% while the monitors were connected by not used and upto 70% when connected and used.

I tried direct connection through the C HDMI port nd also through a Displaylink 3100 (all of which worked perfectly until recently)

I have checked for viruses - nothing

Today I have also noticed that if (for example) I use a word doc on the external monitor, word uses upto 25% of the CPU, If I move it back to the Spectre, the usage immediatly drops

My fan is running almost continuously when the monitors are connected.

Its really driving me nuts! Can anyone provide any suggestions?
