I have changed recently my wireless network (moved to another country) and since then I am having trouble reconfiguring the printer to recognize the new netweork. Everything I could find at different webpages, forums and on HP help pages did not work.
I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 to connect to the home WiFi system.
Going to "Print Queue" when printer is not connected by USB cable to the computer - it says the printer is not connected.
If continue anyway to Settings ==> Utility ==> Open Printer Utility ==> a new window opens but when I press the "HTML Config..." it disappears.
If the printer is connected to the computer by the USB cable and I do the same, one of three may happen:
1. On the browser (Safari), a local Host page (http://localhost:5050/SSI/index.htm) fails to open.
2. Same as above but then I get a message on the printer utility saying "You need to install software to u... the manufacturer of your printer" with "i" next to it. Pressing this I get the following message "You need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose App Store… from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in App Store…, contact the manufacturer of your printer."
3. It does succeed opening the Local Host page but I get the following message: "XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." I tried to install a different browser (Firefox) but got the same result.
The printer is printing when connected with a USB cable.
Without the USB cable, when the printer is turned on, the blue light would blink for a while and then turn off.
I have tried to reset things on the printer (press the wireless and cancle buttons while turning the printer on) but it did not help.
I have tried to check for updates at App Store but found none.
I have downloaded manually and installed HP Drivers (hpprinterdrivers5.0.dmg) but it did not help.
I have downloaded Firmware update but when trying to install it, I get a this message:
“HP Firmware Upgrade Utility” is on the disk image “LJP1100_P1560_P1600_FW_Upgrade_Security-20150114.dmg”. And I am asked to Eject the disk image. When doing so the whole thing closes and nothing happens.
I have downloaded the HP Easy Start but it did not work: When printer was not connected by the USB the program did not find it. When it was connected by USB the program found it but when I proceeded, I was asked to download and install the recommended software for the HP product. The system could not automatically locate any software options for this product. I am directed to a general HP Support site. Continuing anyway, takes me online where I get a message saying printer setup is complete. When I press next I get to a page saying the "HP Registration Service is Unavailable".
I tried to restart the computer, modem, and printer but it made no difference. The modem has no buttons I can press on.
I have printed the Self Test / Device Configuration page and under network the Status = No Connected, IPv4 Address = 0.0.0.0, IP Default Gateway = 0.0.0.0. Under 802.11b/g Wireless, Status = Enable, Communication Mode = Ad Hoc, Network Name SSID = HP8B5B2F (which is not my network), Authentication = None (Open).
After spending about ten hours on this I have no idea what else I can do to get it to work. Any suggestions, PLEASE???
Thank you!
