I have an HP Omen Laptop that overheats (gets really hot) when I play video games. It does not overheat on battery power, only when plugged in.
I have tried everything including cleaning the internal fans, keeping the room temperature cool, bought a portable cooling fan, and play my game on the lowest setting. I also downloaded Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and reduce my Turbo Boost max power. I also downloaded HP cool sense. Nothing seems to help, Within 15 to 20 minutes of playing a video game, My GPU utilization reaches 76 degrees Celsius/My CPU utilization reaches above 90 degrees Celsius, at which point the laptop shuts down.
The laptop does not overheat on battery power, only when plugged in.
