Hello,

After reinstalling a clean version of Window 10 Pro on a new and larger HDD I proceeded to upgrade the BIOS from K01 V02.90 to K01 V03.08 (via V02.99) and now the machine will not recognize any RAM greater than 2GB, almost 99.9% of the time. Once or twice the system has booted over the past week with more than the one RAM module however once the machine shuts down it won’t recognise it again. Although if the system is just restarted then it works fine until a shutdown, which is strange! But given this is the exception and I can’t replicate it with any regularity the following info is based on what I can replicate every time.

The previous installation of Windows 10 Pro was a MBR install with 12GB of RAM (2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz, 2x2GB DDR3 1300MHz) and it work fine (except for windows being very bloated and slow).

The new installation of Windows is GPT however it will not even POST with anything larger than a single 2GB RAM module that was previously installed. It does not matter which DIMM slot the 2GB RAM is installed it will make it through POST fine and boot, but not when more than one slot is occupied or the 4GB Ram module is installed.

I have run extensive tests with the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI (version 7.3.0.0-USB) and each test is passed. Even the same or different RAM modules in each DIMM slot and all looks fine. So, each RAM or Slot appear fine individually.

So why when I install any other configuration of RAM it won’t pass POST. I have tried resetting BIOS, removing the battery, removing power and battery overnight and just about every different combination of power on/off sequence possible. But nothing seems to work.

Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated as its driving me crazy.
