This PC came with Windows 7, but I upgraded it to 10 a few weeks ago. It seemed to be fine, but in the last few days, it seems the optical drive is no longer recognizing any CDs or DVDs when inserted. The system does recognize the drive is there and it appears to be "working correctly", but nothing I insert seems to register. When I try to manually run/view a disc from File Explorer, the drive opens and I am prompted to insert a disc. Of course, i try to continue but no luck.
I've tried system restore and manually uninstalling the driver from Hardware Manager so that the system will auto-detect it on reboot. Neither has worked. I believe I have all the latest updates.
What else can I try before assuming the drive is bad? If any additional information is needed, please let me know and I'll gladly supply it. Thank you in advance. 🙂
