Pavillion All-In-One (Gen7 Intel Core)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had a HP Pavillion All -in-One Desktop for the past 3 years.
It has a wireless keyboard and mouse which have worked fine over this time.
About 2 weeks ago they stopped working.

The Pavillion also has a touch screen so I have been able to unlock the screen and to login but once that is done the on-screen keyboard refuses to popup again.  I cannot enter text in any document or web browser field.

I can use applications and browsers that have saved settings and favourites. But that is it.

I decided this must be a device driver issue but the system says that my device driver is not out of date and there are no updates available.
Then in HP control centre I saw a BIOS update.  I downloaded this and installed it an hey Presto! the issue was fixed.
Both my keyboard and mouse were back in service and working perfectly .... until the next time my PC went to Sleep mode.
When I came back the next morning tapping the keyboard and moving the mouse did nothing to wake the PC.  Only the touchscreen could wake it and I was back to square 1.
There was no newer BIOS update available so I decided to download an install the same one again.
It worked.

I have now installed this same BIOS update for the 4th time, just so I can type this report. However, I don't think this is an acceptable solution and I fear that it may stress my system unnecessarily.  (It makes some weird sounds while the restart process is in progress!)

I have seen other reports of similar issues and read the remedies (removing device and restart, re-installing device drivers) but these don't work (and yes I replaced the batteries when this first happened!)
Help Please.
