HP Notebook - 15-bs091ms

I have a HP Notebook - 15-bs091ms and I am trying to connect two Dell SE2419HX monitors to the laptop. Both monitors have HDMI cables but my computer only has one HDMI port.  We have a hub that has two HDMI ports and has a USB-C out but my computer does not have a USB-C port so we have an adapter that makes it to where we can plug it into a USB-A port, which my computer has three.  When I try to use the hub , the monitors say "No HDMI signal from your device." The monitor works if plugged directly into the computer. Would getting a USB-C to HDMI cable and plugging the port into my computer's HDMI port allow for both monitors to work? I want to be able to use this setup as two different monitors not two monitors looking at the same thing.  The display setting is already set to "Extend these displays".  Can you get display video from the USB port to the monitors, if so how? Is it even possible to connect two monitors to this laptop and have them operate separately, if so how?
