Product: HP Chromebook 11-v00na

I've had this pc for almost a year and a half, but as of recently every time I plug ANY headphones in now there's static - it's most definitely a PC problem, not the headphones. I can play videos etc and barely hear the audio underneath but the static is always there. I've spent far too long trying to find a solution online. Help!!
