FYI, I went through all troubleshooting steps in this article: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01997899
Repeatedly.
I did a hard reset, several times.
I tried connecting to an external monitor. No signal.
I was unable to either recover or update the BIOS. No BIOS screen ever appeared despite trying powering up while holding "windows key B" and then continuing to hold "windows key B" for up to 40 seconds, and then trying "Esc" repeatedly and the trying "Esc" followed by "F10".
I reseated the memory chips. (And had one heck of a time getting the darn laptop open to do so!)
I even tried a chat session where the poor sap on the other end had to follow his/her script and asked me to start from the beginning with a hard reset. I was so out of sorts by that time, that he/she felt compelled to abandon the chat session. Wimps. And then I was sent a fake code to reconnect, which the HP website promptly told me was an invalid code for LogMeIn123. Although I am unsure as to how whoever connecting to my other computer would in any solve my issues with the laptop.
Regardless, I have a paperweight, with no apparent way to fix it and turn it back into a functioning laptop.
Now what? Anyone know how to get a refund?
