Microsoft Windows 11

This is for all of the users having wake from sleep problems.  I have tried many things for weeks and this batch of solutions summarizes what finally worked for me.

This seems to be a combination of problems and so there isn't a silver bullet to guarantee a fix.  1 and 2 below worked for me.  the ones under 3 did not work for me.

1.  If you have a new computer you should do windows updates until you don't see any additional updates.  In particular, you need to look for "optional updates" which will list various HP bios/firmware updates.  This should fix some wake from sleep issues.

2.  there seems to be a 2nd issue related to the system turning off USB ports under a deep sleep.  so if you put your computer in sleep mode, it will wake after 30 min but not overnight for example.  While this is a guess, there may be an OS/hardware mixup for Windows thinking a desktop is a laptop as it does not make sense for a desktop to cut off USB keyboards to save power.

Hit windows key + r, type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers (was last for me) and expand.

Right click on each device and go to "Properties -> Power Management".

Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Do this on every Bus controller that you can. For me, it was USB Root Hub and AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller.

3 Other solutions:  some other things that I have read online / tried myself but it did not fix the issue for me.  However, there could be even more sleep related issues so I have summarized them below.  it might work for someone else if the above doesn't.

3a: go to device manager, check keyboard and mouse, and under power settings, check allow device to wake computer.  this was already on when I looked

3b: edit power plan, change advanced power settings,  pci express,  link state power management -> Off,  I toggled this back to Moderate and I wake from sleep ok

3c: uninstall Omen Gaming Hub.  I did not try this, but it seems to leave the lights on the case so I did not try this

3d: update graphics card driver.  I did this and it did not work

3e: turn off sleep entirely and shut down/boot up the computer.  Not a real fix, but as you cannot reboot even using the power button the last and final option.

best of luck to you all.  and yes, having to sort this all out on my own for a new computer is absurd HP
