I have a HP Pavilion Laptop running Windows 11.
Lately the volume buttons on my keyboard do not alter the volume output at all, only when i go all the way down to mute it does mute. I do see the volume slider going up and down whenever i press the keys, so this is no problem with the actual keys or anything. Though, the volume slider does change the volume when Headphones are plugged in.
On top of that, changing the volume with the volume icon in the bottom right corner does not change anything either. Again it seems like the computer does register me wanting to change the volume (i.e. the volume bar differs from 1 to 100%), but it simply doesn't alter the audio output (besides as mentioned when muting). Right now the volume is really loud so it really isn't usable unless I manually toggle app volumes.
I tried restarting the laptop and searching for updates, but it was fully updated, and all systems were operating correctly.
