Product: Spectre 13 X360 AW0020NR

My 3 year old HP Spectre 13 X360 laptop is the victim of a bloated battery and I'm going to replace it ASAP. The HP Battery Recall Utility says I'm not eligible for complimentary replacement. Is there any danger as long as I turn the laptop off and unplug it after use? Sadly I only had a 3 year extended warranty so I'm 2 months past that 😞
