I have a Color LaserJet Pro M252 printer attached to my Windows 10 Pro laptop. Recently, HP Print Scan Doctor has started waking my computer from hibernation in order to run the Printer Health Monitor. I don't want my computer waking without my knowledge, so I unchecked the "Wake the computer to run this task" option in Task Scheduler. This seemed to work for a few days, but then the option somehow got re-checked and it's back to waking my computer again.
This behavior is unacceptable. It took me quite a while to figure out what was going on and I suspected that I must have an undetected virus or something. This software should respect my choice not to have it wake my computer, or at the very least return it to it's previous hibernated state when it's finished. My printer is seldom turned on, so I can't imagine that the diagnostic is even accomplishing anything.
Is there a way to have this software run on demand only, or is it OK to uninstall or disable it? If so, how?
