HP Recommended
Scanjet Pro 3000 s3 (USB)
Microsoft Windows 11

The scanner is not seen as added to the control panel in Printers and Scanners, but when accessed from the HP Scan application, it will operate the scanner and produce an image. However, when Send to Email is selected, it produces the error: The HP Scan application cannot find an email application installed on the computer. Please ensure your email application is installed and properly configured."

The email application is Outlook (desktop, not web version) and it sends and receives email correctly. In Windows 11 Settings > Apps, as many of the selections are set to Outlook as possible, but some do not provide an Outlook choice. Further, from the File Explorer, right-clicking on a file and selecting Send To Mail Recipient produces nothing.

It appears there are two issues. Win11 cannot find the USB device and Win11 cannot set Outlook for the default app for Send to Mail Recipient or HP Scan Send To Email.

Is there a workaround or registry entry that can be made to resolve this maybe?
