HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p048ur

You don't need to change the power supply to install an i7-7700 processor.

Both processors have the same wattage (65W).

I added another 8GB of RAM to make it 16. Will my 180W power supply be enough if I install the i7-7700? And can I take OEM instead of BOX?

HP Recommended

The only time you would need to install a higher wattage power supply would be if you wanted to install a graphics card that had a higher than 30W power draw when your PC comes with a 180W power supply.

Upgrading the processor and memory would not require a PSU upgrade.

And the last question, do I need a cooler for the i7-7700 or not? Or will the ones in my PC do?

HP Recommended

Your PC's OEM cooler for the i5-7400 will work fine with the i7-7700 processor as well.

It was the only cooler offered in the model series, and there were some models in the 570-p0xx Intel model series that came with i7-7700 processors from the factory.

Thank you so much for your help. I've been racking my brain for a very long time and couldn't take the next step, but after your help, I'll definitely take it now.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Please post back and let us know how your PC's processor and memory upgrade project went.

Once I buy and install everything, I will definitely share my experience.
