Hi, how can I prevent the AppHelperCap process from having such a high impact on CPU usage? From what I've been able to determine, the culprit is OMEN Gaming Hub. If I close this process, CPU usage drops immediately.

Thanks.

Hi @Josemar64,

Thanks for confirming your model details. On the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01‑1xx, the AppHelperCap process is part of OMEN Gaming Hub, and high CPU usage is a known behavior when certain background services are active.

Please try the below steps.

Update OMEN Gaming Hub

Open Microsoft Store > Library > locate OMEN Gaming Hub > Update. HP frequently releases patches to reduce CPU load.

Repair OMEN Gaming Hub

In Microsoft Store > right‑click OMEN Gaming Hub > Advanced Options > Repair/Reset.

Update HP drivers

Visit the HP Support page for TG01‑1xx and install the latest chipset, BIOS, and graphics drivers.

Disable startup entries

Task Manager > Startup tab > disable OMEN Gaming Hub if you don’t need it running automatically.

If you don’t rely on OMEN features (performance modes, lighting, network boost), you can safely disable or uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub. This will stop AppHelperCap from consuming CPU cycles.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
