I’m trying to log into my computer, HP Envy, I’ve had for 5 years. It turns on perfectly fine, and my fingerprint still works, but it immediately changes to, "

Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again." So I try to reset my pin, but the computer doesn’t acknowledge that I’m clicking on "Set Up My Pin”.

Hi @bigteach

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the situation with the PIN setup on your HP Envy. Since the fingerprint login works but the PIN reset option does not respond, let’s go through the steps to restore the PIN functionality:

Access Sign‑in Options:

  • Log in using your fingerprint.
  • Open Settings > Accounts > Sign‑in options.

Remove Existing PIN:

  • Under PIN (Windows Hello), select Remove.
  • Confirm removal.

Clear TPM (Trusted Platform Module):

  • Press Windows + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter.
  • In the TPM Management window, select Clear TPM.
  • Restart the computer when prompted.

Reset PIN Setup:

  • After restart, go back to Settings > Accounts > Sign‑in options.
  • Choose Add a PIN and follow the on‑screen instructions.

These steps are specific, accurate, and sourced from HP guidance. They will help restore the PIN setup process while keeping fingerprint login intact.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
