AIO computer beeps on startup several times, gives message unsupported adapter installed, have tried many adapters, don't have original adapter, tried escape button on keyboard but computer won't stay powered up long enough for anything to happen. Does anyone know where I can get the original adapter, and can I send this unit into HP for repair? It is an:

Why the “Unsupported Adapter Installed” message appears

This model is very particular about the wattage and communication pin used by the power adapter. When the system doesn’t detect the correct signal, it protects itself by refusing to power up fully and may beep several times during startup.

Since the unit shuts off quickly, it strongly suggests the adapter isn’t supplying the required power level for the 27‑inch AIO.

 

What you can try right now

These steps don’t require the PC to stay on for long:

1. Check the adapter wattage

This model typically requires a high‑wattage barrel‑type adapter. Many universal adapters don’t provide the correct wattage or center‑pin communication, even if the plug fits.

If the adapter you’re using is below the required wattage, the system will reject it immediately.

 

2. Inspect the power port

A quick visual check can help:

• Make sure the barrel connector seats firmly with no looseness.
• Look for dust or bent metal inside the port.
• If the connector wiggles, the system may fail to detect the adapter properly.

 

3. Try powering on with this sequence

Sometimes the system will accept power long enough to stabilize:

  1. Unplug the adapter from the wall and the PC.
  2. Hold the power button on the AIO for 15 seconds.
  3. Plug the adapter into the wall first, then into the PC.
