Hi @arkymom1
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m really glad you reached out, and I can imagine how frustrating it feels when the All‑in‑One won’t stay powered long enough to try anything. You’ve already tried multiple adapters, and that effort truly helps narrow things down.
Here’s what’s happening and what you can still try before deciding on service.
Why the “Unsupported Adapter Installed” message appears
This model is very particular about the wattage and communication pin used by the power adapter. When the system doesn’t detect the correct signal, it protects itself by refusing to power up fully and may beep several times during startup.
Since the unit shuts off quickly, it strongly suggests the adapter isn’t supplying the required power level for the 27‑inch AIO.
What you can try right now
These steps don’t require the PC to stay on for long:
1. Check the adapter wattage
This model typically requires a high‑wattage barrel‑type adapter. Many universal adapters don’t provide the correct wattage or center‑pin communication, even if the plug fits.
If the adapter you’re using is below the required wattage, the system will reject it immediately.
2. Inspect the power port
A quick visual check can help:
• Make sure the barrel connector seats firmly with no looseness.
• Look for dust or bent metal inside the port.
• If the connector wiggles, the system may fail to detect the adapter properly.
3. Try powering on with this sequence
Sometimes the system will accept power long enough to stabilize:
- Unplug the adapter from the wall and the PC.
- Hold the power button on the AIO for 15 seconds.
- Plug the adapter into the wall first, then into the PC.
- Try powering on again.
Even a brief improvement can help confirm the adapter is the root cause.
About getting the original adapter
You can absolutely obtain the correct original adapter. Since I can’t share links, the safest option is to contact HP’s parts team or visit the official HP parts store for your region and search using the exact model number “HP 27‑cb0244”. They will list the compatible power adapter by part number so you get the exact match.
About sending the unit in
You can certainly choose to send the unit in for repair if needed. The service team can replace the adapter, the power port, or the internal power circuitry if required. You don’t need to worry about that part right now—your decision will depend on whether getting the correct adapter resolves the issue.
If you’d like, I can help you identify the correct adapter wattage and part number so you know exactly what to order.

I checked HP’s official resources for your HP 27‑cb0244 All‑in‑One PC.
The correct way to identify and order the original adapter is through HP’s Interactive Part Locator and the HP Parts Store. These tools list the exact compatible adapter part number for your model.
Next Steps
- Go to the HP Parts Store for your region.
- Enter your product model: HP 27‑cb0244.
- The system will display the official AC adapter part number and allow you to order directly.
Why this matters
- This PC requires a specific high‑wattage barrel‑type adapter with HP’s center‑pin communication.
- Generic or universal adapters—even if they fit—will trigger the “Unsupported Adapter Installed” error.
- Ordering through HP ensures you get the exact match, avoiding further startup issues.
Thanks,
