Hi All

After having waited a morning and wasted 30 minutes in a chat with a support specialist who could not understand what I was asking I try here.

  1. I got my laptop
  2. I removed all the useless stuff from my laptop (link to Booking, linkedin, copilot, onedrive, office link, family, feedback hub, etc)

Now, every single time I add a new user, all this crap is reinstalled and I have to go and manually remove it.

This is quite annoying.

Is the any way to get rid of this bloatware once and forever?

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

I am sorry to hear that you have not unable to find Window store under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Store. I would request to you please follow the below steps which should resolve the issue. That’s normal the key doesn’t exist by default, you have to create it manually before applying the policy.

Open Registry Editor

  • Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
  • Allow the UAC prompt if it appears.
  • Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

Create the Missing Key

  • Right-click MicrosoftNew → Key.
  • Name the new key: WindowsStore.

Add the Policy Value

  • Inside WindowsStore, right-click the right pane → New → DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name it: RemoveWindowsStore.
  • Double-click it and set the Value data to 1

Apply & Restart

  • Close Registry Editor.
  • Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
  • The Microsoft Store (and related bloatware installs) should now be disabled.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you. We are getting close to it.

Now only copilot is automatically installed, although I removed it from everywhere.

Any way to also avoid it?

Hi @deeokan,

Thank you for responding.

I am sorry to hear that Copilot is getting reinstalled automatically. I would request you to follow the below steps which should resolve the issue.

Uninstall from Apps & Features

Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps.

Find Copilot (or any other unwanted app).

Click Uninstall.

Restart the PC.

Disable via Windows Features

Some components reinstall automatically because they’re part of Windows.

Go to Settings → System → Optional Features.

Search for the app/service.

If listed, remove it here.

Block Reinstallation via Group Policy / Registry

Open regedit.

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent

Create a DWORD value: DisableConsumerFeatures = 1

Clean OEM Image

  • HP systems may re‑add apps from their recovery image.
  • If you want a completely clean system:
  • Download a fresh Windows ISO from Microsoft.
  • Reinstall Windows without HP’s preload.
  • Install only drivers you need from HP’s support site.

Take care and have an amazing day!
