I bought some memory (CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 32Go (2x16Go) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 AMD EXPO Intel XMP iCUE)
to replace what was in there (16gb 5200mhz Kingston Fury).
I asked HP support what memory I could use last year and they told me 16gb sticks upto 6000mhz.
I did not check the speed of the memory before removing it for the first time.
The speed of the old memory as shown in cpu-z is 1995.1mhz
The speed of the new memory as shown in cpu-z was (approx) 2200mhz
I think number is doubled for dual channel memory but I am still getting nowhere near the advertised speeds for the ram. Does anyone know why or can they suggest a fix please?
Thanks.

Hi @Gavin8750
First it will never be able to go to 6000 because the processor does not support it, it will always be low frequency to make it compatible . Second to verify in the BIOS what frequency the memory can take (XMP).

Hi
Thanks for replying, unfortunately the xmp profile shows auto without any stated numbers.
As far as I can tell HP advertised the pc as having 16gb 5200mhz memory, then underclocked it to work on this board (they didn't mention this part the the shop listing or the product specification).
Again, when I asked HP support what the fastest ram supported would be, they were correct in saying it would support 6000mhz ram, I just didn't think I needed to ask what speed the ram would run at.
Between this and the 'utilities' that reinstall themselves and try to contact hp servers every time I update windows, this is definitely the first and last time I buy a pc from hp (having already given up on their once excellent printers!).
Thanks for your help, pity about the pc.
