Hi @GA63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you are feeling a mild shock from your HP Pavilion laptop while it is charging. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the power source
Plug the charger directly into a wall socket and avoid using extension boards or loose power strips.
Unstable or improperly grounded outlets can cause mild electrical leakage.

Inspect the charger and cable
Check the adapter, cable, and plug for cuts, bends, or exposed wires.
If the charger is damaged or not original, it can cause electrical leakage.

Verify grounding (earthing)
Try charging the laptop in a different room or building with proper earthing.
Lack of grounding is the most common cause of mild tingling sensations.

Remove external devices
Disconnect USB devices, external monitors, or peripherals while charging.
Faulty or ungrounded accessories can pass minor current to the laptop body.

Use the laptop on a dry surface
Avoid using the laptop on metal surfaces or while barefoot on tiled or damp floors.
Direct body contact with ground can make leakage current more noticeable.

Check with another charger (same rating)
If available, test with another compatible HP charger.
This helps confirm whether the issue is with the adapter or the power outlet.

Update BIOS and system drivers
Ensure BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date from HP support resources.
Firmware updates can help improve power regulation and safety behavior.

Stop using if shock increases
If the shock feels painful or becomes stronger, stop using the laptop immediately.
This may indicate a serious electrical fault that should not be ignored.

I hope this helps.
