HP OmniBook Ultra 14 inch Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fd0000 (A4AD0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I've upgraded my new Omnibook Ultra 14 (non-flip) to the latest BIOS version 01.01.14 Rev.A and after I did so my laptop takes a very long time to reboot and then conjures up the message "Shared SPI flash was recovered". It then boots, so it's usable, but this has me worried. Does anybody else have the same problem or knows how to fix it (other then waiting for new BIOS)?

Hi @juulS, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Experiencing the "Shared SPI flash was recovered" message after updating your HP OmniBook Ultra 14 to BIOS version 01.01.14 Rev.A indicates that the system detected and corrected an error in the BIOS during startup. This process can lead to longer boot times as the system attempts to recover the BIOS.

Restore the BIOS:

  • HP provides a method to restore the BIOS using a key press combination. For detailed instructions, refer to HP's official guide on recovering the BIOS.

Run HP Support Assistant:

  • Ensure you have the latest BIOS and other updates by running HP Support Assistant:
    • If not already installed, download and install the latest version from HP Support Assistant.
    • Open the application.
    • Navigate to Maintain > Tune Up > Start Tune-up.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to check for updates and system tune-ups.

Install an Updated BIOS:

  • It's possible that the BIOS version 01.01.14 Rev.A has issues leading to the error message. Check if a newer BIOS version is available for your specific laptop model:
    • Visit the HP Support page and enter your laptop's serial number to find the latest BIOS updates.
    • If a newer version is available, follow the provided instructions to download and install it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
