I have an HP Envy Laptop PC with a Windows 11.

My audio stopped working completely. It says "no output devices found" under system sound.  When on Google Meet it says "speaker not found". It also doesn't work on Zoom.

Under Choose Where to Play Sound in Settings it states: "No output devices found".

The audio DOES work if I plug in my earphones.

I updated all of the audio drivers. I also did a system update and restart.

I've never had this problem.  I use Zoom and Google meet for my business and need to get this solved ASAP.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

@Sandy334, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how critical audio is for your business meetings, and I’m here to help you get this resolved quickly.

  • Error: “No output devices found”
  • Symptoms: No sound from speakers, but earphones work
  • Tried: Driver updates, Windows updates, restart

This typically indicates a problem with the audio driver, audio service, or hardware detection. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot and fix this.

Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    • If you don’t see any audio device listed, or see a yellow triangle, that’s a sign of a driver issue.
  3. Right-click any audio device listed and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your PC — Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Run HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and fix hardware and driver issues.

Enable Audio Services

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find and ensure these services are Running and Set to Automatic:
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
  3. If not, right-click > Start, and set Startup Type to Automatic.

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

This will check if the internal speakers are detected at the hardware level.

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
  • Choose Component Tests > Audio and run the test.
  • If the test fails, it may be a hardware issue.

Manually Install Realtek Audio Driver

  1. Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  2. Enter your HP Envy model number.
  3. Download and install the latest Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for Windows 11.
  4. Restart your PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
