Hello friends
I think I got my hands on a crap refurbished HP Pro desk 600g1 DM business PC nuc. I work from home and my PC is also HP and I was having a lot of tech issues. Thankfully a company tech at is next level found a corrupt file of Citrix and got rid of it and my PC worked great. 2 days ago I had audio issues and a new it and I mean green as grass knew it person messed with the settings and got it my headset that is to work and the next morning I came in and had the same issue. My company doesn't like to pay for tech issues it's always the agents fault. I went out and bought a HP NUC that supposedly is completely refurbished and upgraded and it is one of hp's staple nook computers or nucs? I went to log on to my PC this morning and got the error message that something happened and access to signing into windows on my desktop PC is not an option choose another option so I chose password I put the password in that I've been using for the last 3 years and of course the password didn't work so I plugged in the new HP Pro desk 600. Plugged in HDMI cord plugged in the keyboard and mouse plugged in the hard line and plugged in the power cord made sure they were all nice and neat and hit the power button and nothing for the first 30 seconds. Nothing at all. Then all of a sudden it's this little machine sounded like a 747 jet taking off with no picture just the fan spinning like a carousel on speed or methamphetamines. Do I just throw this thing in the trash? Because none of the tricks listed worked for me I get nothing can't use the keyboard can't use the mouse the keyboard power doesn't stay on the mouse power doesn't stay on and I'm a single dad working with two sons and I work 16 hours a day two jobs six days a week so I can pay for my kids to go to a good school. My mortgage taxes food everything I could barely afford this PC and then now they don't work. The area I live in in Georgia is a very expensive area so I have to drive into Atlanta drop my computer off lose two more days of pay because an HP products failed me. The seller has like a 99% success rate plus something happened after they put it all together and it's probably the Peace of crap chords that come with HP computers. I refuse to pay $50 for a power cord when I paid $150 for the nuc with two failed computers if you have any advice and please email me at bbtm 119@**bleep**.com. I'm not going to be checking this website because it's too confusing and every time I turn around HP is asking for contact support where you would cost a fortune and I'm not doing that I don't have it to do it. When I was young HP support used to be free I know because my parents used all HP products nowadays nope so if anybody has any advice on either why my HP PC says at startup of windows that the PIN option is no longer available and how to get around it I would appreciate it or if anybody has any magic advice around the HP Pro desk that would greatly appreciate it. I just don't have time to waste with authentic HP parts and plugs that don't work. I have had my HP desktop for 3 years almost 4 years and I've had nothing but issue after issue after issue and I have all the bells and whistles Norton and CC cleaner and malware and bitdefender so HP really failed me and I hope someone in the community can help me if not I wish you all well thank you

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
To put things into perspective, we are talking about a system that is 11 years old: the HP ProDesk 600 G1 DM (Desktop Mini) was first released in 2014.
A few things stand out in your rant:
You think the HP ProDesk 600 G1 DM is a "NUC" – It is not. It’s a desktop mini (DM), not an Intel NUC. That misconception might be skewing your expectations.
You bought an overpriced $150 refurbished unit – A 11-year-old business PC that was likely reassembled with mixed-quality components. Refurbs can be a gamble, especially if the seller isn’t top-notch.
Power-on failure with jet-engine fan behavior – Classic bad PSU or motherboard failure. Could also be bad RAM or a loose connection.
Keyboard/mouse losing power – If USB devices aren’t staying on, the motherboard or power delivery is suspect. It might not even be an HP power brick issue.
Complaints about Windows login issues (PIN & password not working) – Likely unrelated to the hardware but more of a Windows corruption/account issue.
General frustration with HP & modern tech support costs – Understandable, but expecting a decade+old business PC to be flawless isn't realistic.
Suggested Response:
- The ProDesk 600 G1 DM is not a NUC and that it's from 2014, so expectations should be adjusted. Severely.
- Hard reset (unplug power, remove CMOS battery, hold power for 30 sec).
- If the fan is going crazy, check RAM seating or swap out RAM sticks.
- If USB devices aren’t staying on, the motherboard might be toast.
- As for the Windows PIN issue -try booting into safe mode and resetting the login credentials.
Honestly, to me it sounds like a horrible refurb job, and given your financial situation, you might be better off returning this crap rather than sinking/wasting time into (anyone's) troubleshooting.
Kind Regards,
