Poly 50 - Not stream audio when off ear

I just bought a Poly 50, but can't seem to set it so that audio tones and music don't stream to it even when it is off my ear.  

I don't wear it all day, but don't want email/text alerts going to the headset when it's off ear, because I don't hear them.

Is there a setting for this? I could do this with my Voyager 5200.

Unfortunately, the article does not apply to Apple/iPhone iOS because iOS does not include an enable/disable media audio toggle. 

Thus the HP/Poly design decision to let the phone control this rather than the Poly settings means that no option is available for iOS users to turn off audio streaming.

As I explained, iOS (Apple iPhone) does not have the controls specified in the link I provided to control what media plays/doesn't play through the headset.

While I am not very familiar with Android OS, I understand it does have this feature.

So the explanation/article is unhelpful/incorrect with respect to iOS.

The article previously shared was intended to provide general guidance across platforms; however, your observation clearly highlights that the behavior described does not fully apply to iOS environments. Your input is truly valuable and helps us improve the accuracy and clarity of our resources.
 

For the Poly 50 on iOS, audio playback and routing are largely governed by the operating system, which limits the ability to customize this behavior through the headset itself or associated applications.

thanks again for offering to help:

Goal 1: Have only phone audio come through the headset, or be able to select certain things (such as alert tones) while excluding media playback.

Goal 2: Have audio play through headset only when it is on my ear. When it is removed, I want sounds to come from iPhone.

I had both of these things set to operate in this way on my Plantronics 5200.

For reference, I have the latest iOS installed on my iPhone.

No - this is about configuring the Poly 50, which I purchased to replace the Voyager 5200.  I am just stating that I was able to configure my old headset the way I would like to configure my new headset - the Poly 50.
