B8200

OS: MacOS 13 Ventura

Applications affected: Slack Huddle, Google Meet (in browser)

Applications working fine with: MS Teams, Zoom (app, in-browser not tested yet), Webex (app)

Problem:

When I'm using Huddle or Google Meet I am constantly muted (voice "Mute on!") at random moments and I need to press the button to unmute myself. Sometimes every 30-40 seconds and rarely I even get twice in a row: mute-on->manual unmute->1sec->mute-on->manual unmute

I only get this with MacOS so far. This evening I can test Slack Huddle and Google Meet on Linux if it works but I don't think it will be affected. Only MacOS.

I own two 8200 UC headsets, one Plantronics and one Poly. Poly has been upgraded to the latest version around march this year, Plantronics still using OEM firmware. Both giving me same effect.

Haven't found any solutions so far. Can anyone point me at something that would stop muting me in the middle of conversation? It only happens when I speak.

At first I was thinking that it's because I raise my voice or something but after speaking quietly for few minutes it still muted me anyway.

We are sorry to hear that you are facing this issue, could you please try using the soft phone application and then check if the issue still persists. Along with it please install the Poly Lens application and check for any firmware updates and update them.

Hey Meghana!

Thank you for the ideas. Unfortunately even after upgrading both headsets to the latest software version (v700 as of today) and testing with the Softphone settings it is still the same.

I've tried to:

  • switching Target Softphone from MS Teams to Zoom in Poly Lens
    • and disabling MS Teams Module as well
  • switching Target Softphone from Avaya Equinox to Cisco Jabber (and/or Zoom too) in Plantronics Hub
  • resetting headset to Default settings

It only affects Slack Huddle and web version of Google Meet on MacOS. I don't have such issues on Linux version of Slack Huddle or (web) Google Meet. Not even mentioning Windows as I rarely use this OS but 8200 UC usually works perfectly on Windows OS so...

Do you have like any ideas?

I was asking my meeting participants if I am being cut off at the moments of high or loud voice but they said it is not. They said that I am being cut off (and then I hear "Mute On!") even when I'm speaking with a low (and or quiet) voice.

Not to worry, could you please uninstall either Poly Lens or Plantronics Hub from the PC and restart the PC. Once done please connect the Voyager 8200 UC to the PC and open Plantronics Hub or Poly Lens and go to settings and switch off the mute option and switch back on and check if the issue still persists?
