Yes to all the above , and we put up with all the other shortcomings of the 5200 so well explained here BECAUSE of the caller ID function whilst using 2 mobiles , which when working did actually mostly work really well , was excited to upgrade , it wasn’t on my radar that you would improve battery life  - (questionable given functionality restrictions ) change to c charging and then remove the most distinguishing benefit and make it unreliable completely re switching devices , and then telling us to go back to the  5200 - what an insult .  Do better , while I now stop promoting the benefits of the 5200 to ALL people I used to come across trying to navigate dual mobiles ( or for that matter to new parents with babies - your background noise cancelling was an amazing function for them - being able to talk to people and be heard over a crying infant - fabulous )  and I’m off to research an alternative from anyone else that values their customers . ( ps -your suggested  caller I’d fix using iOS / Siri doesn’t solve it - doesn’t work ) and I question your background cancelling ability in the 50 as well - i have had my regular call receivers question the volume of back ground noise this week - only change - I switched to the 50 - back to the retailer it will now go - not fit for purpose .

I am in the same boat. I have been using the 5200 series for years and having that caller ID announcement function is one of the only reasons I used the headset for so long and went through so many. I recently had to purchase a new headset and went with the Legend 50. During incoming calls I was not hearing the caller ID, and I thought it was me. "Did I ever hear the names" and when I realized I have always heard the names I started to look at the settings to see what is going on. I had hoped it is something to enable in the Poly App, but there is no setting there. So maybe coming soon, hopefully to the app where it gets enabled.

I am currently on Samsung, so I followed the directions for the Samsung Devices but it still does not read off the Caller ID on incoming calls with the settings that are currently set under Voice Prompts and Tones. No matter which option you enable or disable you will not hear the Caller ID unless you Disable "Calls" settings.

I got it to work though with Calls settings enabled, so I hear the incoming calls, there is a 2 or 3 second delay. Maybe 2 seconds, and then it announces the Caller ID name. In the Samsung/Android phone settings, when you enable Read Caller Names Aloud, you have to enable the option to Read caller names twice. Enabling this option you will hear the caller ID name after that first initial delay of a inbound call.

Although this setting/method is not ideal, it will work for the time being until hopefully HP or a Poly dev figures it out and enables that for us within the Poly App.

It still sucks. All audible alerts are missed bits like the headset is asleep. So getting the announcement of you enable for 2x is great for calls. But text, teams, other alerts missed 90% of the time with the new headset. The 5200 all alerts come through.

This lack of caller ID functionality is a pain in the backside ... Come on, HP sought this out !!!!!!

The caller's voice is also very metallic-sounding compared to the 5200

I'm buying more of the 5200 for the team because of these features lacking

A BIG No for Voyager Legend 50. NO Caller ID Function. A basic and most important feature missing in the series. Please DO NOT BUY Legend 50.

I've been a Plantronics headset user since the 90s, most recently the 5200, other Legend, and Edge models. I've owned pretty much every one of their flagship products. The 5200 had it's shortcomings, but overall I must say that it's my favorite and most used to date. After purchasing the new Legend 50 here are my initial gripes: (1)- when the caller ID announcement "does work", it announces the caller's name AFTER prompting you to accept or ignore the call! On the 5200 this process was in the opposite order, so that you would know who's calling first, which makes WAY more sense. (2)- I notice the caller's voice's are not as clear and do sound digitized as compared to the more natural sound quality of the 5200. (3)- The up and down volume buttons are PAINFULLY slow to operate! (4) - Would be nice if the charging light stayed on constantly, instead of blinking green every so often and then just going dark once charged (just a personal preference). After recently needing to replace my lost 5200, I went ahead with the Legend 50. I'll probably keep it (due to it's longer run-time extended range, usb-c, etc. and hope for future firmware updates to solve it's obvious issues. I do miss my 5200!

I never would have bought the Legend if I knew it didn't do this!  This is SO vital to my business.  I'm going to try what they suggested, but your reply sayiing it only sort of works is super frustrating. How could they eliminate this simply way of gauging, prioritizing, and screening calls?

even a child knows that the problem is probably due to the cost savings and the use of a hardware chip that does not support the PBAP profile(like in cheap headsets), and it is not a software problem! probably we need to wait for successor of legend 50 for solve this problem 😄

another question is why they moved production from a famous Mexican production plant (voyager 5200) to Vietnam (legend50)
